Now I have to follow through with my training and scouting and I'll still have less than a 1 in 10 chance of harvesting an animal. Yahoo!!

Results of the 2008 Big Game Draw...
YES! I got it!! (two years in a row, no less). I drew a 1st rifle season bull and a 2nd rifle season buck. Both tags are for Unit 38, my home unit (aka my backyard). Drew, I'll be hunting the unit just south of 38 with a friend who drew an archery elk license. If he tags out early I was thinking of getting an OTC tag and archery hunting elk in 38. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cweeks

Thanks for the comment. If you want to hunt #38 be sure you're in shape and ready to stay in the field for a few days at a time. My own experience, scouting, and secret sources tell me that Mt. Pisgah has produced some nice bulls and cows in years past. Otherwise look up high (near treeline) by the East Portal (Moffat Tunnel) on the north side of Nebraska Hill. Best of luck to you.
Thanks Drew, Any thoughts about the area west of there just north of Empire and below Breckinridge Peak? The concentration maps show these areas to be good. Also, any thoughts on how much pressure these elk are seeing during the archery season? Clark
